AIFF U-16 boys got the better of a team mostly comprised of I-League players in their last preparation prior to Asian Championship. The match was held at the picturesque Kalyani Stadium.
Under 16 boys faced the likes of Mohun Bagan’s Shouvik Ghosh, Pritam Kotal, Pankaj Moula, Dempo FC’s Pronoy Halder and many other former India U-22 and Arrows’ Player of the likes of Tirthankar Sarkar, Jayabrata Dhar, Arijeet Singh, Shayan Roy, amongst others.
Krishna Pandit and Jerry Lalrinzuala scored one each in the first half as the U-16 boys enjoyed a 2-1 cushion at the interval. Aaron sealed the fate in the 82nd minute.
Head Coach Goutam Ghosh praised his boys on the result. “Our U-15 boys played in a mature fashion against matured professionals. It will only increase their confidence. But at the same time, we need to be cautious. We cannot afford to be complacent at any point,” he told www.the-aiff.com
The Academy boys will begin their Asian Champions Trophy campaign against Frenz United, Malaysia in an away match in Kuala Lumpur on May 17.
