Both Dempo and United SC were looking for a win to come out of the mid-table as they entered the pitch. However Eric Brown’s double proved too much for the home side.
United SC started creating chances right from the kick-off. Brown opened up the home side’s defense as early as 11th minute, when CK Vineeth’s cross went over the strikers and a subsequent shot from 30 yards by Bello Rasak was saved by Subhasish Chowdhary. Dempo also displayed some passing football with Beto, Pranoy Haldar, Jeje, Alwyn George and the experienced Clifford Miranda. Both the Dempo strikers Jeje and Alwyn missed couple of golden chances to put the home side ahead in the first half.
Within 10 minutes into the second half the away side scored 2 goals to put Dempo under real pressure. In the 50th minute Liberian Eric Brown blasted a free-kick from 30 yards and in 5 minutes time from then he capitalized on a defensive error made by Shinnosuke Honda.
Frustrated Dempo then fought back as Clifford Miranda header found the net of Beto’s corner. After conceding a goal United started defensive football taking the of Dempo’s attack. United sat back on a goal advantage till the final whistle ensuring three away points.
