East Bengal registered a hard fought 2-1 victory over Chennai City FC at Coimbatore in the Hero I-League 2017-18 on Friday. It was their first away game and with this victory they have reached to 10 points and replaced Mohun Bagan to gain the second spot of the table.
Katsumi Yusa broke the deadlock at the 27th minute of the game to give his side an 1-0 lead. Charles doubled the the lead for East Bengal in the 32nd minute of the game. Just ahead of the end of the first half Chennai’s J Suraj scored a goal to reduce the gap. The match ended at 2-1 at the end in favor of the visitors.
