FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 in India

India edged past South Africa, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to win the bid of hosting U-17 FIFA World Cup 2017. This will be the first FIFA tournament on Indian soil.
India gets the automatic qualification in this tournament being the host nation. As the opportunity to participate in FIFA World Cup 1950 was wasted, this is going to be India’s first participation in FIFA World Cup of any category.
