The Indian Super League (ISL) for the season 2018-19 kicked off with Athletico De Kolkata locking horns against Kerala Blasters at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. The home team lost the match by 2-0. Matej Poplatnik (77′) and Stojanovic were the goal scorers for Kerala.
Bengaluru FC vs Chennaiyin FC
Bengaluru FC took on Chennaiyin FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The match ended 1-0 in favour of Bengaluru. Miku (41′) scored the only goal of the match.
North East United began their ISL campaign against FC Goa at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. The match was a nail biting thriller and 2-2. Gallego (8′) gave the home side the lead right at the beginning of the game. Then FC Goa scored two goals in succession through a brace from Coro ( 14′ and 39′). Within a few minutes after the second half, Obgeche (53′) equalized for North East.
Mumbai FC took on Jamshedpur FC in their first game at the D.Y. Patil Stadium. Jamshedpur won the match by 2-0. Mario Arques (28′) and Morgano (90+5′) were the goal scorers for the away side.
Delhi Dynamos faced Pune City in their opening match of ISL 2018-19. Rana Gharami (8′) gave Delhi the lead just within a few minutes after the kick-off. Diego (88′) equalized right at the dying embers of the match to earn Pune a solitary point. The match ended with a scoreline of 1-1.
