The Indian Football Association today penalized two Mohun Bagan footballers for harassing the referee during the Calcutta Football League derby which was played on September 24. The two footballers are Shilton Paul and Kingshuk Debnath. Ahead of that the League Sub-Committee called Shilton Paul, Kingshuk Debnath, Arijit Bagui, Chesterpaul Lyngdoh and Mohun Bagan physio Abhinandan Chatterjee today after getting the reports from the referee Ranjit Bakshi. After listening to everything from them, the committee has announced their decision today.
Bagan’s star goalkeeper Shilton Paul will have to pay rupees 2 lakhs as fine and be he also has to give an unconditional apology letter. On the other hand Kingshuk has to pay rupees 1 lakh as fine and an apology letter to the IFA. But if they submit their apology letter in a few days time they won’t face any problem while playing for Mohun Bagan. Besides that Bagan’s finance secretary Debashish Dutta will not be allowed into the technical area in the next three matches.
