The Indian football team managed by Igor Stimac was beaten by Curacao with a scoreline of 1-3. India’s first match in the Kings Cup was played at Buriram, Thailand. Curacao went ahead by two goals early into the game with Rolieny Bonevacia (15′) and Leandro Bacuna (18′) scoring the goals. Sunil Chhetri (31′ [P]) got one back for his country via a penalty but within two minutes, Elson Wuincy Hooi scored a third for Curacao. The second-half remained goalless.
Igor Stimac’s men succeeded in overcoming Thailand with a 1-0 victory to secure a third-place finish in this friendly tournament. The match winning goal came from Anirudh Thapa (17′) early in the game.
Thailand dominated ball possession and attacked convincingly too. However a few goal line clearances from goalscorer Thapa ensured his side maintained a clean sheet.
This was the Blue Tiger’s second successive victory over Thailand.
