Minerva Punjab Back On Top Of League Table After Edging Past Shillong Lajong In A Thriller

A late strike from Bali Gagandeep helped Minerva Punjab to reach the top spot of the I-League again as they defeated Shillong Lajong 3-2 in a nail biting thriller at the Tau Devi Lal stadium in Panchkula, Punjab on Wednesday. The hosts were leading the match 2-0 in the first half with two goals from Eric Dano and Bali Gagandeep. But later in the second half the visitors made a dramatic return in a span of 4 minutes. Daniel Odafin reduced the gap  on the 60th minute of the game and  within just 3 minutes; Laurence Doe made it 2-2 with a brilliant strike.

At the dying stages of the game, Bali Gagandeep became the hero for the home side again as his brilliant left footer went into the nets on the 80th minute of the game. In the 90th minute of the game Abdoulaye Koffi scored again for Shillong but the referee denied a legitimate goal which helped the hosts to win the game 3-2. With this controversial win, Minerva currently are holding the top spot with 29 points from 13 matches.
