Manandeep holed the back of the net in the 78th minute to hand the Mariners their first ever away point from the capital city of Mizoram against Aizawl FC on Thursday. 5 minutes prior to that, Khawlrhing breached the Mariners’ defence and scored as result of a confusion between Goalkeeper Shilton Pal and Left Back Ricky near the goal line .
The Mariners will be quite happy to come away with a point as the defending champions Aizawl, dominated major parts of the second half, and took the lead at later stages (73rd minute of the game). Akram Moghrabi earned his side a much needed penalty, when he was taken down by the Aizawl Goalie tackled him. Manandeep took the chance in a solid way to make it 1-1. Aizawl were down to 10 men at the dying embers of the game, when their captain Alfred Jaryan fouled Akram without any intention of hitting the ball, and was given marching orders by the referee, much to the dismay of the player and the home fans. This draw takes the Mariners to the 4th place, level on points with Shillong Lajong, but behind on goal difference.
