Shillong Lajong Defeat Title Chasing Neroca FC

Shillong Lajong defeated title chasing Neroca FC by 2-0 at Imphal on Wednesday. Neroca, who seemed to be a resilient force this season, stumbled right when they were expected to advance their chances.

Saihou Jagne scored the first goal for Lajong right at the beginning of the match. Abdoulaye Koffi doubled the tally in the 18th minute and Neroca couldn’t recover from the deficit. This defeat keeps Minerva Punjab at the top of the table with 22 points in 9 matches while Neroca Fc remain in the second spot with 21 points in 11 matches. Neroca’s loss can be a much needed opportunity for both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal to take advantage of and still be in the hunt for I-LEAGUE title, only if the Kolkata Giants are able to win rest of their matches consistently.
