Title Hopes Shattered For East Bengal After Loosing Against Gokulam

East Bengal suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat against I-League minnows Gokulam FC in what was a must win game for the Red and Gold brigade in Kerala, on Saturday.
It was East Bengal who took the lead in the 45th minute just before half-time, as Katsumi Yusa slotted home from the penalty spot.
Gokulam fought back immediately in the 51st minute as Kivi slotted the ball past Ubaid to make it 1-1. The heartbreaking moment for East Bengal fans came in the 87th minute when Salam Ranjan Singh shot the ball into his own net in the process of clearing the cross of Arjun to make it 2-1 in favour of the home team.
There was heated tempers in the last few minutes, as Irshad and Arnab Mondal, the captains of both the teams got back to back red cards.
This defeat keeps East Bengal in the third place with 26 points from 15 matches.
